Atmospheric Chemist

The widely recognized leader in atmospheric science is best known for having pioneered the theory explaining how and why the ozone layer occurs in Antarctica. We had the pleasure of working with the highly acclaimed scientist to share her contributions in the field of Science.

Theory on why the hole in the ozone layer occurs in Antarctica

Susan Solomon pioneered the theory of how and why the ozone hole occurs in Antarctica, and obtained some of the first chemical measurements establishing manmade chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) as its cause. This theory led to the conclusion that Chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) and other halogenated ozone-depleting substances (ODS) are mainly responsible for man-made chemical ozone depletion.
